Many people started using computers pre installed with windows and even now more and more computer companies like DELL, ACER and many more come preloaded with Windows OS.
So to consumers, Windows is the most "Trustable" OS. Also every school uses that and more students are exposed to them and more familiar with working in Windows XP.
Not many people feel comfortable to work in an entirely new operating system , that was my initial thoughts too ... till I took the leap.
My experience
After searching the web for which Linux distribution is the most user friendly, Ubuntu came up top of my search. By now my mind was almost set on Ubuntu and the feature which allows me to install it from a THUMB DRIVE is the final push. Waste no cd, Install whenever you want what is better than to encourage people to try it?
More features
Not only can I install Ubuntu from a thumb drive, I can use the OS even before I install it but performance will be affected and not many data can be saved as it runs from a thumb drive.
